The Single Source Regulations Office (SSRO) has today confirmed that Hannah Nixon will step down as Chair at the end of her five-year term on 2 January 2027. Following a recruitment process for her successor, Hannah will work with the incoming Chair to ensure a smooth transition.
During her tenure, Hannah has provided strong leadership through a period of significant change for the SSRO and the wider defence environment.
Working closely with the Board, the SSRO executive, and stakeholders across government and industry, Hannah has helped strengthen the SSRO’s role as an independent regulatory body and maintained its focus on supporting the effective operation of the single source regulatory framework.

Notes
Through the delivery of its statutory functions, the SSRO aims to ensure that good value for money is obtained in government expenditure on qualifying defence contracts, and that contractors are paid a fair and reasonable price under those contracts.
Hannah Nixon was appointed as Chair of the SSRO on 3 January 2022 and will complete her term on 2 January 2027 consistent with public appointment arrangements.
The recruitment for the new SSRO Chair will be conducted as a fair and open competition in line with the Government’s Governance Code on Public Appointments.
